Wedding Podcast in Guatemala: the stories from your wedding that deserve to be heard

There are memories a photograph can't hold.

A podcast set in the garden of a wedding reception at dusk: a cream sofa and armchairs, microphones on arms, headphones, a camera, a light and a sign with the Whats Behind logo; behind it, tables and guests under string lights.

Your dad’s voice telling what you were like as a kid. Your friends laughing over the story that always comes up when you’re together. Your grandparents’ advice. Or that anecdote about your relationship that, for some reason, you had never heard.

A wedding brings together people who have been part of different moments of our lives. Family, childhood friends, college classmates, people who have watched a relationship grow from its first days. They all arrive with one thing in common: they have a story to tell.

Yet many of those conversations happen only once.

At Whats Behind Wedding Podcast we believe they deserve to be remembered too.

That is why we created a different experience for weddings in Guatemala: a place where the people you love most can share their memories, tell their stories and leave you something you can listen to for many years.

What is a Wedding Podcast?

A Wedding Podcast is a conversation experience that takes place during a wedding, where family and friends share anecdotes, memories, advice and messages for the couple.

Unlike a traditional guest book, or a station where guests simply leave a recorded message, a Wedding Podcast offers something more personal: guided conversations that uncover stories and capture spontaneous moments.

At Whats Behind we design a space within the celebration, with professional recording equipment and a format that invites guests to talk naturally.

A woman in headphones speaks into a microphone while another, beside her, watches with emotion; behind them, a reception with flowers and lights. Two men in dark suits and headphones talk in armchairs beside a small table, with guests dancing in the next room.

It is not about sitting in front of a microphone and giving a speech.

It is about remembering the first time you met the groom. Telling what the bride was like at fifteen. Sharing the story that always makes your group of friends laugh. Or saying something you may never have had the chance to say.

After the wedding, those conversations become a carefully edited episode, made especially for the couple.

The result is not simply a podcast. It is a part of their story, told by the people who lived it with them.

Why have a Wedding Podcast?

When a couple starts planning their wedding, they think about every detail that will make the day special: the venue, the décor, the music, the food, the photography and the video.

Each element has an important role.

But one thing is usually left out of the planning: the conversations.

Think about everything that happens during a wedding.

Friends remember stories from ten years ago. Siblings tell childhood moments. Parents talk about watching their children grow up. Someone recalls how the relationship began. Someone else shares advice learned after many years of marriage.

Many of those stories are told while the couple is greeting guests, having photos taken or enjoying other moments of the celebration.

And they will probably never get to hear them.

Two women and two men in formal wear laugh with headphones and microphones on a sofa, surrounded by cameras and lights, in a reception hall with guests behind them.

Whats Behind was born from exactly that opportunity: keeping the stories that usually stay behind the wedding.

An experience for your guests, a memory for the two of you

One of the things that excites us most about the concept is that it creates value at two completely different moments.

During the wedding: an experience to share

The Whats Behind set becomes a place where family and friends can sit down, talk, laugh and remember.

Some guests will share funny stories. Others will recall important moments. There will be unexpected conversations, advice, jokes and probably more than one burst of laughter.

The experience is designed to feel natural, not like a formal interview.

No one needs experience in front of a camera or a particularly outgoing personality. Our job is to create a comfortable setting and ask the right questions so the stories come out.

We want guests to enjoy taking part.

After the wedding: a memory that stays

When the celebration ends, a second part of the experience begins.

The couple receives an episode that brings together the voices and stories of the important people in their lives.

They can listen to it after the honeymoon, share it with their family or return to it on their anniversaries.

And the most interesting part is that the same episode will probably mean something different in five, ten or twenty years.

Because the stories stay the same, but the way we hear them changes with time.

How does Whats Behind Wedding Podcast work?

We want the experience to be simple for the couple and, at the same time, for every conversation to have intention.

That is why our process begins before the wedding.

1. We get to know your story

Before the event we hold a session to get to know the couple better.

We want to understand how the relationship began, who the important people are, which stories have accompanied them and what kind of memories they would like to keep.

We are not looking to prepare artificial conversations. We are looking for the context that lets us ask better questions.

2. We design the conversations

With that information, we prepare a guide for the conversations during the wedding.

A good question can turn a simple answer into an extraordinary story.

Instead of only asking “What do you wish the couple?”, we can ask:

“What was the first story you heard about their relationship?”

“What do you remember about the first time you saw them together?”

“What advice do you wish you had received when you got married?”

The answers often lead to memories nobody planned.

And that is exactly what we are looking for.

3. We set up at the wedding

We build a recording space that fits into the celebration, with professional microphones, cameras and lighting depending on the experience you choose.

Guests take part individually or in small groups, depending on each conversation.

Our team guides them so they feel comfortable.

The technology is there to record the moment, but it should never become the protagonist.

4. We select and edit the stories

After the wedding, the production work begins.

We review the conversations, select the most meaningful moments and build a narrative that lets you enjoy them as an episode.

We are not looking to hand over a collection of recorded files.

We want to create a piece with rhythm, personality and meaning for the couple.

Two people in headphones talk at microphones during a recording; in the foreground, a monitor shows the shot. A person seen from behind adjusts their headphones beside a studio light during a recording.

5. We deliver a memory to hear again

The result is a Wedding Podcast episode prepared especially for the couple.

Depending on the Collection you choose, delivery can include audio, video, highlights from the conversations and other formats of preservation.

Every element has the same purpose: letting those stories remain part of your lives.

How is a Wedding Podcast different from wedding photography and video?

Photography and video are two of the most important ways of documenting a wedding.

And we believe they always will be.

A photograph can keep a look, an embrace or an instant that lasted a fraction of a second.

A video lets you relive the movement, the speeches, the ceremony and the atmosphere of the celebration.

Whats Behind does not seek to replace either of those memories. It seeks to complement them.

Our focus is on something different: the conversations.

Photography helps you remember how it looked.

Video lets you see it again.

Whats Behind lets you hear it again.

Hearing your best friend tell how you two met. Your siblings recalling a childhood prank. Your parents sharing how they see your relationship.

It is not necessarily something that would happen in front of a traditional camera.

That is why we design a space dedicated exclusively to those stories.

Together, photography, video and a Wedding Podcast can build a much more complete memory of the wedding.

What does a couple receive with Whats Behind?

Beyond the delivery formats, four benefits define our experience.

Preserve the voices that matter most. The voices, laughter and words of family and friends are recorded as part of the couple’s story.

Discover stories you’ve never heard before. Friends and family often hold perspectives on our own lives that we don’t know. A Wedding Podcast creates the space to discover them.

Give your guests a different experience. Instead of only being spectators, guests take an active part in creating a memory.

Relive your wedding for years. The episode lets you return to the conversations, the emotions and the people who were part of that day.

These benefits are why we see Whats Behind as more than an audiovisual service.

The value of hearing a voice twenty years from now

There is something special about listening to an old recording.

Not necessarily because of what was said, but because of how it was said.

A laugh. A pause. An expression someone repeated all the time. The way a person told a story.

They are details that can seem ordinary today, but take on a different meaning with time.

Imagine listening to your Wedding Podcast on your tenth anniversary.

Some of the stories may make you laugh exactly as they did on your wedding day. Others will remind you of moments you had already forgotten. And some will carry a new meaning because of everything you have lived since.

Now imagine listening to it thirty years from now, with your family beside you.

That is what inspires us.

We cannot know which story will matter most in the future.

But we can create the opportunity to keep it today.

An experience today. A memory for tomorrow.

A Wedding Podcast in Guatemala: a new way to experience weddings

Guatemala has become a special setting for couples who want to celebrate their wedding surrounded by family and friends.

From celebrations in Guatemala City to destination weddings in Antigua Guatemala and the landscapes of Lake Atitlán, every wedding has its own personality.

A bride and groom in white and black sneakers on a cobblestone street in Antigua Guatemala, with the Santa Catalina Arch behind them. A groom helping a bride step out of a red tuk-tuk on a cobblestone street in Antigua Guatemala, with the Santa Catalina Arch in the distance.

At many celebrations, especially destination weddings in Guatemala, people travel from different cities and countries to be together for a few days.

Friends who haven’t seen each other in years. Families who live in different places. People who have shared very different stages of the couple’s lives.

That gathering has a special value.

Whats Behind proposes using it for something more than a celebration: creating conversations that can be kept long after everyone has gone home.

Our Wedding Podcast is designed both for couples who live in Guatemala and for those who choose the country to celebrate their wedding.

Do our guests need to know how to speak into a microphone?

No. And that is one of the most important parts of what we offer.

We don’t expect guests to prepare a speech or to know how to lead a conversation.

Our team creates the setting and guides the questions.

Some people will have a lot to tell from the first minute. Others will need to recall a specific anecdote to get started.

The experience is designed to adapt to people, not the other way around.

The best stories often appear when someone stops thinking about being recorded and simply starts talking.

Is a Wedding Podcast the same as an audio guest book?

Although both formats keep voices, the experience is different.

An audio guest book generally lets guests leave short messages for the couple.

A Wedding Podcast adds guided conversations, questions, shared memories and a later process of selection and editing to build an episode.

Both can have value, but they serve different purposes.

Whats Behind focuses on discovering stories, not only on collecting congratulations.

What kind of couple is Whats Behind for?

For couples who value experiences, relationships and memories that last.

For those who want to surprise their guests with something different.

For those who are curious to hear their own story from the perspective of their family and friends.

And especially for those who understand that the value of a memory is not always measured on the day it is made.

You don’t need to be a podcast fan.

You only need people and stories you want to keep.

Whats Behind: the stories behind your wedding

We created Whats Behind because we believe that behind every relationship there are many other stories.

The friends who were there from the beginning. The parents who were there at every stage. The siblings who know versions of us that almost no one else does.

A wedding brings those stories together in one place.

And we want to help them last.

If you are planning your wedding in Guatemala, or a destination wedding in Antigua Guatemala, Guatemala City or Lake Atitlán, we would love to tell you how our experience works.
